Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
1. Introduction
The Funeral Planning Project respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you visit our website, use our resources, or submit information through our Facebook Lead Ads or other forms.
We are committed to handling your data with the same care and respect we bring to everything we do. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Contact details: Name, email address, phone number, and any message you submit through our contact form or Facebook Lead Ads forms.
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on site, device type, browser, and approximate location (via IP address).
- Facebook Lead Ads data: When you submit a lead form on Facebook or Instagram, we receive the fields you chose to share (such as name, email, phone number) along with a timestamp and the ad you responded to.
3. Facebook Lead Ads — Specific Practices
We use Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Lead Ads to make it easier for people to request our free guides and checklists. The following practices apply specifically to lead ad data:
- Voluntary submission: You choose which fields to submit. No data is collected without your explicit action of submitting the form.
- Purpose limitation: We use lead ad information solely to send you the resource you requested and to follow up with relevant, helpful information about funeral planning. We do not use it for unrelated marketing.
- Third-party access: Meta processes lead submissions on its platform. We download leads into our secure systems for fulfillment. Meta's own privacy practices also apply — you can review them at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
- Retention: We retain lead ad data for up to two years, or until you request deletion, whichever comes first.
- Consent: By submitting a lead form, you consent to our contacting you via the methods you provided (email and/or phone) for the purpose of delivering your requested resource.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To send you guides, checklists, or other resources you request.
- To respond to questions or feedback you send us.
- To understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
- To comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how our site is used. This may include:
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function.
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand which pages are most useful. We may use Google Analytics or similar services.
- Advertising / Meta Pixel: We may use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram ads, including Lead Ads. This helps us understand which ads lead to meaningful engagement. You can opt out of Meta's use of data for ad targeting through your Facebook ad settings.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in these limited situations:
- Service providers: Trusted companies that help us operate our website or send emails (e.g., email delivery services), bound by confidentiality.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety.
- Meta Platforms: As described in Section 3, lead ad data passes through Meta's systems before reaching us.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email us at the address above.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. This includes secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we treat your data with the seriousness it deserves.
9. Children's Privacy
